The No Limits Club is a new and exciting program for disabled youth in Hong Kong. Inspired by the success of the 2019 Asia Pacific Youth Camp where 33 disabled youths from the Asia Pacific region and 50 young volunteers, spent 4 days of fun outings and sports, project leaders Alfons and Sophie Mensdorff-Pouilly decided to launch a social club for young people with disabilities in Hong Kong.
The No Limits Club will kickstart on July 4 with a dance party allowing the youth the opportunity to socialise with their peers and the Order of Malta volunteers. The Club plans a further two to three events this year which will include fun dance and screen-free interactive games.
According to Project Leader Sophie Mensdorff-Pouilly, “During the camp we were amazed to see how much fun everyone had and how sociable these young people with disabilities are. They want what all young people want which is to socialize with people their age and to have fun in a care-free environment, outside of school. Over the past few months of homeboundness in Hong Kong, we maintained contact with our young friends through zoom dance parties with the help of a DJ friend from Berlin! During the weekly 20 minute zoom dances, we encouraged each other by simply being there and spending time with each other.”
