Easter Party for students with special education needs
Easter is one of the festivals children love to celebrate. For children with special education needs, the Easter Party always draws their attention with colourful Easter eggs and toys. To bring joy and love to the boarding students at Caritas Lok Yi School, the President of the Order of Malta Hong Kong, Desiree Jebsen, and Project Leader, Florence Wan, led a group of 15 volunteers to attend this meaningful Party on 20 March, 2024.
Before the Party began, the new Warden of the School, Ms Rachel Chow congratulated the Order of Malta Hong Kong for winning a Volunteer Award at the Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony held on 16 March. The students of Lok Yi School also performed a lion dance to celebrate the joy of our award-winning. Mrs. Jebsen also presented the Volunteer Pins to our two Outstanding Volunteers, Grace Lu and Yen Lam.
During the Easter Party, our volunteers played the Easter games and helped the students learn about the story of Easter. At the end of the Party, our volunteers also presented some gifts, which were donated by the Hong Kong Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, our President, Desiree Jebsen, and our volunteers Florence Wan and Grace Lu, to the students.
Desiree said, “ Thank you for an amazing Easter party! It was heartwarming to see how wonderful you the volunteers were looking after these children! Thank you for all you do. A special thank you to our two volunteers of the year Grace and Yen!! Thank you for being so thorough in joining the events so many times.”
“A very special thank you also to Florence who is doing such a wonderful job in leading the Lok Yin school project and so resourceful in making this such a meaningful endeavour !”
