Flying Young Program

With a focus on families with young children and youth who live below the poverty line, OMHK works collaboratively with Caritas-Hong Kong and volunteers to provide quality time through activities to enhance family bonds, promote interactions between parents and children  which is fundamental to child and youth development.  The project offers much needed opportunities rarely available to economically challenged families to have precious time to encourage exploration, evoke curiosity, bring joy and a sense of self through activities and relationship building with volunteers and each other.  Activities include: outings, indoor and outdoor games, sports, arts, trampoline, kickboxing and rock climbing.

Horizon Club

Launched in 2020, our Horizon Club (formerly known as the Computer Club) serves over 150 children aged 5-14 from low-income families.  We provided laptops on a rent-free basis to participating families during the lock down period. The Club also offers free online classes that cover a broad range of topics such as laptop’ basics, from Excel spreadsheets to fitness, environmental care and other useful skills.  Our Flying Young volunteers hold free online classes for the children of families who are economically struggle.
Under the auspice of Saint Jude’s Church North Point, we have partnered with Caritas Hong Kong to launch the Homework and Horizon Club in September 2023. An Open Day was held for families and volunteers to view the excellent facilities of the classrooms for this new initiative that will serve 25 school-aged children. Daily classes held in North Point will be conducted by our volunteers to equip children to learn English through various extra-curricular activities.
It has always been our dream to have a fixed venue where the children can come to broaden their horizons. Our goals to help each child achieve personal excellence, build transferable skills, learn responsibility and confidence.
