Multi-Art Performance by Students with Special Education Needs
Many students with special education needs have hidden talents especially in art. To unleash hidden potentials, we partnered with Rock Foundation to provide a total of 5 hours Multi-Art training to the students of Lok Yi School. Our 4 volunteers accompanied the 10 students to take an intensive training for three days so they would be ready to display and perform their artistic work to the guests, parents and volunteers of the School at the End of School Term Ceremony.
Last July 5, about 20 students together with 10 guests, parents and volunteers were gathering at the School’s Hall for the End of School Term Ceremony. All of us were waiting excitedly for the performance by the students. When the lights dimmed and music played, six students and four volunteers stepped up and did a skit with dance performance in front of the audiences. We were all thrilled with their excellent dance skills.
Besides the performance, the students together with our volunteers composed some thank you cards. Some of them showed their drawing talents by using colourful crayons to draw beautiful pictures on the cards and some used attractive stickers to decorate the cards. The students also presented the cards to our Hospitaller, Sophie Mendsdorff, to show their appreciation.
Florence Wan, Project Leader of Lok Yi School Project, said, “Thank you so much for the volunteers whom devoted your precious time in rehearsing and practicing with the students. The parents and school highly appreciated the effort.”
