Pizza Making Workshop organised for the children of Horizon Club

26/01/2024

On 21 January 2024, 13 volunteers accompanied 14 children of Horizon Club to join a Pizza Making Workshop at BACI Trattoria-Bar in Central.  Thanks to Charmaine Lau, Group HR and Administration Director of Lan Kwai Fong Group, who designed and planned this wonderful pizza-making experience for the children.  She invited Roberto Marchi, Chef of BACI Trattoria-Bar, to demonstrate to the children how to make the pizza with delicious pizza toppings such as ham, mushroom, spinach, onion, pineapple, and cheese.

All the children were immediately transformed into little chefs with the restaurant’s aprons and chef’s hats.  They gathered quickly around the working counter and made their own pizzas with their favorite toppings.

While watching their pizzas inside the flaming hot pizza stove, all the children couldn’t hold their excitement and shout the magic word “PIZZA”.  While the children were waiting for their pizzas to be baked and boxed for them to take home, Charmaine also arranged a VIP corner for the children to enjoy some treats and drinks from the restaurant.

All the children had a great time in making and designing their pizzas with different toppings.  Some of the children even created their pizza in a heart shape.  They all filled with joy with their first personalized pizza.

Charmaine said, “We had a great time with the children and hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we did.  It was wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm.  We appreciated the work of the Order of Malta Hong Kong, which supports the community and look forward to future opportunities to collaborate.”

Marina Coghill, Project Leader of Horizon Club, said, “We are so grateful for Charmaine who offered this fantastic opportunity to the children to learn from their industry leading chefs.  We also would like to give our most sincere thanks to Lan Kwai Fong Group for hosting the children at this unique event.  Some of them had never had a pizza before.  This would be an unforgettable experience for them and a chance to widen their horizon as well.”
