Flying Young Program

With a focus on families with young children and youth who live below the poverty line, OMHK works collaboratively with Caritas-Hong Kong and volunteers to provide quality time through activities to enhance family bonds, promote interactions between parents and children  which is fundamental to child and youth development.  The project offers much needed opportunities rarely available to economically challenged families to have precious time to encourage exploration, evoke curiosity, bring joy and a sense of self through activities and relationship building with volunteers and each other.  Activities include: outings, indoor and outdoor games, sports, arts, trampoline, kickboxing and rock climbing.

HKAOM Horizon Club

Our Flying Young volunteers hold free online classes for the children of families who have difficulty in coping with the educational challenges presented by the pandemic.  These children have no access to computers and in order to fill this need, our volunteers launched The Computer Club in 2020.
The Order of Malta Hong Kong provides laptops on a rent-free basis for a year to participating families. As part of the package, the Club will also offers free online classes that cover a broad range of topics such as laptop’ basics, from Excel spreadsheets to internet safety As well as well interactive courses on healthy eating, exercise, fitness, environmental care and other useful skills.
Each online class will be hosted by one English-speaking and one-Cantonese speaking volunteer.
