Visit Wetland Park in Tin Shui Wai

17/06/2018

Hong Kong is blessed with many beautiful parks. However, for children with special needs, access to these parks are not as simple. To broaden the horizons of these children, the Lok Yi School arranged a day visit to Wetland for its boarding students on June 17. Our 9 volunteers picked up the students from the school and then traveled to the Wetland by a coach. Although the weather forecast said it would be raining, it turned out to be a sunny day! In fact it was so sunny that the umbrellas brought were used to block out the sun!

Students were so excited to see the many beautiful flowers and colourful butterflies. Some students were so surprised to see large, pink lotus flowers floating on the water. All students though were amazed by how many birds there were flying overhead. After touring for a couple of hours in the Park, the students started to feel exhausted. Our volunteers brought the students to a fast-food restaurant in the park. After the lunch, our volunteers took the studuents to the Ginza Square Shopping Mall by the light-rail, riding from Tin Sau to Ginza station. It was also the first time for the students taking the light-rail in New Territories. After the ride and the tour inside the shopping mall, our volunteers brought the students back to the School.

Some of our volunteers commented that it was the most happiest and meaningful Father’s Day for them.
