A fun Expressive Art Workshop
The challenges posed by the pandemic has highlighted the importance of expressing our feelings in order to release stress. No Limits Social Club Project Leaders, Sophie and Alfons Mensdorff-Pouilly, believe that expressive arts is one of the most effective ways for young people to care for their mental well-being.
Last 25 June, the HKAOM volunteers partnered with the Hong Kong Expressive Arts Therapy Service Center (HKEXAT) in hosting a special Expressive Arts Workshop for our guests with disabilities. Expressive Arts Therapist Derek Lum combined a psychotherapeutic approach with various art mediums such as music, drama, dance and drawings, to help participants express their feelings and mood. Each guest was offered a drawing set to take home to encourage them to continue in their journey of well-being.
HKAOM Hospitaller Sophie expressed her appreciation for the event , “We are so grateful to Derek of HKEXAT for conducting such an interesting and fun workshop for our guests and volunteers. We could see the joy of our guests during and after the drawing session. We look forward to co-hosting more workshops with HKEXAT in the future.”
Mrs. Esther Chan, the mother of our guest Jessica said, “Jessica enjoyed the event today…. She does not enjoy dancing but she loves listening to music and being with people. Thank you to all the volunteers for bringing so much joy to our kids.”
