Take the students with special education needs to the Park
A park or a playground that connects us to nature and stimulates the senses has a calming and healing effect on everyone. Our volunteers partnered with the Caritas Lok Yi School to organise a fun outing for their full-time boarding students who have limited opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors and/or meet new people. On 22 November, 15 Order of Malta volunteers accompanied the students to the Aldrich Bay Park. The weather was perfect for the outing. The students in wheelchairs marvelled at the lights from the buildings while their friend enjoyed themselves on the different playground slides and hoops. Everyone had a great time.
Renee, one of the first-time volunteers, said, “It’s our pleasure to be here, and we are so glad that we could play a part in such a meaningful event. We enjoyed it a lot.”
