Summer fun games for students with special education needs

On 8 July 2026, volunteers from Lok Yi School Project had originally planned to take students from Caritas Lok Yi School on an outing to the nearby shopping mall for window shopping and a leisurely walk. However, due to unstable weather, the group stayed indoors and enjoyed a lively session of summer games instead.
Before the games began, Principal Mok joined the event and delivered warm, encouraging words to the students ahead of the upcoming summer holidays. She also presented specially designed notebooks to our Project Leader, Florence Wan, as a token of appreciation for the volunteers.
Nine dedicated volunteers participated in the event, joining the students in two joyful games: “Pass the Ball” and the colourful Rainbow Parachute Game.
Despite some overseas volunteers not speaking Cantonese, language was never a barrier. The students communicated through bright smiles, enthusiastic gestures, and infectious energy, creating a heartwarming atmosphere filled with laughter and connection. The volunteers made every effort to ensure all students felt included and supported, helping them fully participate in the games and enjoy the delicious snacks thoughtfully prepared by the school staff.
The Rainbow Parachute Game was a particular favourite. Students and volunteers delighted in tossing the ball and working together to keep it bouncing on the parachute. The evening concluded with refreshments, during which volunteers assisted students in enjoying the treats.
This indoor gathering turned out to be a memorable evening of fun, inclusion, and meaningful interaction — a wonderful reminder that with creativity and care, every moment can become a joyful experience.
