COVID Emergency Support: A quick response in challenging times
The 5th Covid wave is hitting Hong Kong hard, causing great hardship to many vulnerable people in our community. A convergence of the sudden drop in temperature, the stricter social distance policy, the need for COVID rapid test kits, daily essential materials and heating appliances has resulted in an escalation of needs. The Hong Kong Association of the Order of Malta (HKAOM) has quickly responded to this escalation by launching the COVID Emergency Support Program for low-income families, elderly people and students with special needs.
Thanks to the generous support of our corporate partners, members and volunteers, the HKAOM has been able to deliver:
– 30 TV sets for nursing staff who are caring for quarantined elderly people
– 740 electric blankets to the families of charities Helping Hands and Caritas Elderly Homes
– over 10,000 COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits donated by Aquila Healthcare Ltd., Jebsen Co. and past President Denis Chang to elderly homes, seniors living alone, low-income families and the Lok Yi School students with special needs
– Food and daily essential materials to the refugees
Following an appeal letter by our President, HK$70,500 has been raised to support this drive. We need more of your support as the needs of the vulnerable communities of Hong Kong continue to escalate. Any amount is welcome. Please click here to download the Donation Form.
