Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival with Seniors

On September 27, Flying Seniors Project Leaders Ambrose Ng and Teresa Lo hosted a joyful Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at the Western District Elderly Community Center. Fourteen volunteers from the Order of Malta Hong Kong organized engaging activities for fifteen elderly participants, creating a memorable afternoon filled with laughter and connection.
The event began with a lively brain teaser game led by Teresa, where participants spotted three differences between two similar images. Remarkably, the seniors often outshone the volunteers, quickly identifying all differences with sharp eyes and enthusiasm. Next, the group enjoyed a lantern riddle challenge, featuring beautifully crafted Chinese lanterns adorned with riddles. Though some riddles were tricky, many seniors confidently solved them, their faces lighting up with joy upon hearing they had answered correctly. The fun continued as everyone tried their hand at folding face towels into adorable rabbit shapes, adding a creative touch to the festivities. To conclude, each senior received a mooncake and a vibrant lantern, thoughtful gifts that deepened the festive spirit. The celebration was a heartwarming success, filled with shared smiles and cherished moments.
