Sharing from a malade, Larry Luk, who joined 2025 Lourdes Pilgrimage
To all my dear friends and the Order of Malta:
With a full heart that I stand before you or rather speak through my AI clone voice that I created last year. Perhaps I should have programmed it in more of a British accent to match Phillippe’s delightful sense of humor. From day one each of you has made us feel like true members of this extraordinary family. Every smile, every tap on the shoulder has warmed my heart in ways words cannot fully express. Philippe, despite or perhaps, because of your wonderfully terrible jokes I must thank you, especially for bringing us aboard this pilgrimage and to our dedicated team leader of the Gold team. Thank you for your constant enthusiasm and for always ensuring we were first in line even when we might have preferred a few extra minutes of sleep.
But the most important person I wish to thank is Désirée, the President of Hong Kong. You have truly made us feel at home in every way.
As a token of my gratitude, I would like to present you with this small gift – a crucifix showing the blessed Mother Mary holding Jesus. This image perfectly reflects the spirit of The Order Of Malta, just as Mary cradles her son with tender care so does the Order embrace and care for the poor and the sick. Finally, like yesterday‘s gospel reading, I don’t have much to offer, but what I can give is my promise to hold each of you in my daily rosary and prayer.
