Flying Seniors bring the summer fun indoors

08/07/2026

Despite the blazing heat and high humidity of Hong Kong’s summer, the spirit of fun and connection remained undimmed in the Western District. On July 4, 2026, the Flying Seniors project successfully brought cheerful indoor activities to the elderly residents at the Western District Elderly Community Centre.

Led by Project Leaders Ambrose Ng and Teresa Lo, the event was joined by six students and one teacher from Raimondi College, along with dedicated volunteers. Together, they organised a lively afternoon of games, brain-teasing activities, and creative crafts designed to entertain and engage the seniors.

To create a fresh and enjoyable experience for both the elderly participants and the young volunteers, Teresa introduced engaging online games such as “Finding the Hidden Items” and an interactive Q&A session. However, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the arts and crafts session. Teresa guided everyone in making beautiful keychains using colourful strings and wooden rings — a hands-on activity that sparked joy and creativity across generations.

Fifteen elderly friends from the centre thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon spent laughing, chatting, and crafting alongside the young volunteers. The event once again demonstrated the power of intergenerational connection in brightening everyday lives.
